Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RMLH), formerly known as Willingdon Hospital, was established in 1932 by the British to serve their staff and initially had only 54 beds. Post-independence, the hospital's control was transferred to the New Delhi Municipal Committee and later to the Central Government in 1954. Currently, it is a 1,532-bed multispecialty hospital spread over 30 acres in central Delhi, fully funded by the Government of India under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

RMLH offers comprehensive healthcare services, including 24/7 emergency care, cardiology, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and orthopedics. It houses specialized units such as a Coronary Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, and a dedicated nursing home for Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries, including maternity services. The hospital performs approximately 9,000 major and 40,000 minor surgeries annually and conducts over 28 lakh laboratory tests each year.

Affiliated with the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences, RMLH is a teaching hospital offering undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. The hospital is in the process of expanding its capacity to approximately 3,000 beds to meet the growing healthcare needs of the population. It also emphasizes digitalization, having initiated a cloud-based system for storing patient records, aiming to enhance efficiency and accessibility of medical data.
