This combination oral contraceptive contains ethinyl estradiol (estrogen) and desogestrel (progestin), offering effective birth control by inhibiting ovulation, altering cervical mucus, and preventing implantation. Each cycle consists of 21 active tablets followed by a 7-day pill-free interval or placebo pills. Besides contraception, it may regulate menstrual cycles, reduce acne, and ease dysmenorrhea. Common side effects include nausea, breast tenderness, and mild weight changes. It is not suitable for smokers over 35 or those with a history of blood clots.
