Vaccine Overview
Bromocriptine mesylate tablets I.P.
Bromocriptine mesylate is a dopamine agonist used primarily to treat hyperprolactinemia, Parkinson’s disease, and type 2 diabetes. In hyperprolactinemia, it reduces prolactin levels, restoring ovulation and fertility. It works by stimulating dopamine receptors, which suppress prolactin secretion from the pituitary gland. In Parkinson’s, it improves motor symptoms by enhancing dopaminergic activity. It should be started at a low dose and gradually increased. Side effects include nausea, dizziness, and orthostatic hypotension. Medical supervision is necessary during treatment, especially in long-term use.
