Vaccine Overview
rdESAT-6 and rCFP-10 (Cy-Tb) Injection (Detection of Latent-tuberculosis)
This diagnostic injection is used for detecting latent tuberculosis infection. It contains recombinant TB-specific antigens ESAT-6 and CFP-10, which are absent in BCG and most non-tuberculous mycobacteria. Injected intradermally, it triggers a local immune response in TB-infected individuals, allowing for accurate detection without false positives from BCG vaccination. It is an alternative to traditional tuberculin skin tests and is useful for screening high-risk populations, healthcare workers, and close contacts of TB patients.
Drug Class: Human Diagnostics
