Pentavalent 1

The Pentavalent 1 vaccine is administered at 6 weeks of age as part of the routine immunization schedule for infants. It is an injectable combination vaccine that protects against five serious diseases: Diphtheria, Pertussis (whooping cough), Tetanus, Hepatitis B, and Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib). Given as a 0.5 ml intramuscular injection, usually in the antero-lateral thigh, it reduces the number of separate shots required, improving coverage and compliance. Pentavalent 1 initiates the protection that is strengthened through subsequent doses in the immunization series.
