Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV)-0

The Oral Polio Vaccine – 0 dose (OPV-0) is administered to newborns at birth or as early as possible within the first 15 days of life. This dose is crucial in providing early protection against poliovirus and helps prime the immune system for subsequent doses. Given orally, it is safe, easy to administer, and a key part of polio eradication efforts. OPV-0 is especially important in areas where polio is still a risk or where hygiene and sanitation conditions may contribute to virus transmission.
