All India Ayurvedic Congress

The All India Ayurvedic Congress (A.I.A.C.) was established in 1907 in Nasik to protect, promote, and propagate Ayurveda—the ancient Science of Life. Since its inception, the organization has grown to have branches in almost every Indian state and district, representing Ayurvedic physicians and practitioners nationwide. Thousands of Vaidyas participate actively in its programs at local, state, and national levels. The Congress has played a pivotal role in reviving Ayurveda and advocating for its recognition as India’s national system of medicine.

The vision of A.I.A.C. includes advancing Ayurveda’s educational standards, research, and healthcare facilities. Its efforts have led to the establishment of key institutions such as the Central Council of Indian Medicine, National Institute of Ayurveda in Jaipur, State Boards for practitioner registration, and the Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV) for higher studies and specialized training. The organization has also been instrumental in ensuring parity of status and pay for Ayurvedic practitioners in government service alongside allopathic doctors.

Guided by renowned Ayurvedic scholars and stalwarts over the decades, A.I.A.C.’s main objective remains the holistic development and acceptance of Ayurveda. It strives to integrate Ayurveda into the national health policy to improve public health through natural, safe prevention and treatment methods. The Congress continues to work towards promoting Ayurveda not only in India but globally, preserving its rich heritage for future generations.
